Revolut has launched personal loans in the UK, expanding its financial offering and taking direct aim at traditional high-street banks. The move marks another step in its evolution from a digital-first money app into a broader financial services competitor. Personal lending is an important market because it allows providers to deepen customer relationships while competing for interest income beyond everyday payments and account services. For Revolut, the launch could help it capture more of the customer journey within its existing app, making it a more compelling alternative to established lenders. The bigger question is whether its digital-first model can translate into sustained market share in a competitive lending market.

The Agentic Commerce Report
Seven priorities for year two of agentic commerce
1) Gate before, not just after
Consumers moved from wanting cancel options to wanting confirmation steps. Build approval into the pre-purchase moment — push notification, biometric check or in-flow confirmation — rather than relying on the dispute process to catch mistakes.
2) Answer the accountability question
Knowing who is responsible when an agent gets a purchase wrong is an issue for 40% of consumers — and this shows up on the merchant side too. Research from our fraud solution, Ravelin, finds up to 67% of merchants have been targeted by AI-driven fraud, though only 70% currently use anti-fraud AI in response. State it clearly, in the flow, before the transaction — merchants who own that answer will earn trust faster than the ecosystem resolves it for them.
3) Make the credential invisible
For 83% of consumers, it’s important that no one, including the agent, ever sees their actual card or account number. Without tokenization, this isn’t possible
4) Design for the funnel, not just checkout
Consumer comfort starts at research and comparison, where three-quarters of open consumers already accept agents. Agent-readiness begins with your catalog, pricing and review data being legible to agents, not with the payment rails. Merchants who only instrument the payment layer are entering the conversation too late
5) Protect your loyalty architecture
Better-reviewed and cheaper alternatives are a draw for 72% of consumers. Agents route on value and reviews: If your loyalty points, member pricing and brand signals don’t surface in agent flows, they won’t influence the decision. Make loyalty machine-readable before agents make it invisible.
6) Calibrate by industry
A single playbook won’t hold across industries: Travel consumers want pricewatching with authorization checkpoints, financial services customers accept monitoring but resist execution, retail shoppers guard the parts of shopping they enjoy. Set trust thresholds, authorization models and entry points industry by industry — the vertical guides provide the data for each.
7) Make agent transactions actually complete
Winning a consumer’s trust is only half the job — the transaction still has to go through. Stale card details, single acquirer routing and fraud rules that don’t account for agent behavior all raise decline rates for agent-initiated purchases specifically.
